Billy Elliot musical has won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. In the year 2006, the show was nominated for nine different Laurence Olivier Awards. Besides the Best New Musical award, the show also won the awards for the best sound design (Paul Arditti), the best actor(s) in a musical (Liam Mower, George Maguire, and James Lomas), and the best choreography (Peter Darling). Liam Mower was then the youngest actor to win the award for the best actor in a musical Broadway show. The Musical also won The Evening Standard Award 2005. The show celebrated its first anniversary on May 12, 2006. On this occasion, the three original Billys (Mower, Maguire, and Lomas) appeared in a final show together.

There are two acts in the Billy Elliot musical, where every act has used eight musical numbers each. The musical numbers used in the Act I includes Angry Dance, Born to Boogie, The Letter, Expressing Yourself, Solidarity, Grandma's Song, Shine, and The Stars Look Down. The second act includes The Letter (Reprise), Once We Were Kings, Electricity, He Could be a Star, Swan Lake, Deep into the Ground, Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher, and Finale. When the third anniversary of the show was celebrated in 2008, the newly cast Billys had danced to the musical number Electricity .
West End Production
The premier show of the Billy Elliot musical was organized at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London in March 2005. Where the original film version had reportedly cost around $5 million, the show cost $5.5 million. The original film and the show both have been choreographed by Peter Darling and directed by Stephen Daldry. The producers of the premier show were David Furnish, Old Vic Productions Plc, and Working Title Films. Rick Fisher designed the lighting, Gillibrand designed the costumes, and Ian MacNeil designed the sets. The musical is still showing at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London.
